UT:10 is a nationally recognized and award-winning newscast, covering the latest on campus and in the surrounding community.

Student Television Award – 2021
In October 2021, the Spring 2021 UT:10 Crew was awarded the Student Television Award. Judges commented that the newscast was a good example of hitting heavy COVID topics and timely local news while still having some fun.
Student Radio Award – 2021
In October 2021, Deepa Bhujbal received the Student Radio Award for their UT:10 Weekly Radio Update.

Award of Excellence – TV News Magazine – 2020
In March 2021, UT:10 received a 2020 Award of Excellence from the Broadcast Education Association for it’s 2020 Election Day newscast.

Mark of Excellence Award – Best Overall TV News Program 2011, 2010, 2009
UT:10 was awarded the first place Mark of Excellence Award for Best Overall TV News Program from the Society of Professional Journalists for Region 4, which includes all universities in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia three years in a row.
Mark of Excellence Award – Television Breaking News Reporting – 2011
The SPJ Region 4 first place Mark of Excellence Award for Television and Breaking News Reporting, was awarded to Ashley Karsten and McKenzie Kuehnlein for their package covering FBI raids of local IHOP restaurants.
Mark of Excellence Award – Television Sports Photography – 2011
The SPJ Region 4 second place Mark of Excellence Award for Television Sports Photography was awarded to Ashley Karsten for their 2011 coverage of UT Rocket Football and Rocket Women’s Soccer.
Mark of Excellence Award Finalist – Best All-Around Television Newscast – 2010
In 2011, UT:10 News was named a 2010 Mark of Excellence Award National Finalist for the Best All-Around Television Newscast by SPJ. The group was awarded second place, out of all 4-year colleges and universities in the nation.

Best Special Broadcast – 2011
In October 2011, College Broadcasters Inc. awarded UT:10 News the Best Special Broadcast Award for their “UT Myths & Legends” special. Additionally, UT:10 was nominated for Best Sportscast.

Best College Newscast – Academy of Television Arts & Sciences College Television Awards – 2010
In Spring of 2010, student producers Ashley Roth and Philipp Levering, student director Heather Schramm, and faculty advisor and instructor Dr. Jackie Layng flew to Los Angeles for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences College Television Awards. The team received the first place award in the “Newscast” category.
