TOLEDO, Ohio (May 22, 2025) – The University of Toledo Board of Trustees has named Dr. James Holloway as its 19th president, concluding the national search for its next leader.

Holloway currently serves as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University of New Mexico. He previously held leadership roles at the University of Michigan, including vice provost of global engagement and interdisciplinary academic affairs and chair of the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences. Holloway brings more than two decades of experience in higher education, with a focus in academic innovation and interdisciplinary research.

He will assume presidency on July 15, succeeding Interim President Matt Schroeder.
