Gina Todd

Gina, the Student Producer for UT:10 News, is a junior majoring in Communication with a focus in Broadcasting, and a minor in Digital Arts and Visual Communication. She is the Founder and President of the Beta Theta Chapter of Zeta Phi Eta, a National Professional Fraternity in the Communication Arts and Sciences. Gina has previously worked as a News/Production Intern for WTVG 13abc, and a New Media Intern for UT Communications. After taking a service trip to Les Cayes, Haiti, she has developed a passion for travel. Although she is not set on what she would like to do after graduation, she hopes that passion can be incorporated into her future career.

Brandan Carnes

Brandan Carnes, the Sports Director, Assistant Producer, and Show Director for UT:10 News, is a senior majoring in Communication with a focus in Broadcasting. This is his second year working on UT:10 News, either on the technical side or as a student reporter.  Additionally, he has also worked for the Department of Communication as a production technician, including working on BCSN’s “Overtime” show, produced at the UT studio during the 2013-2014 school year. Brandan also has experience as play-by-play announcer and color commentator commentator for WXUT radio’s broadcasts of Rocket Football games, and has interned with the Toledo Speedway.

Cody Smith

Cody is a sophomore majoring in Communication and minoring in Business. He is the President of the Men’s Ultimate Disc Club and a member of H20 Church on campus. This upcoming summer, he hopes to get a local internship at a news station for sports broadcasting. His dream job would be to either work at ESPN or become the broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds.

Guyton Mathews IV

Guyton is a senior double major in Political Science and Communication with a focus in Broadcast Journalism. He has had three internships, and was a Fall Fellow for President Obama’s campaign in 2012. His goal is to become a Multimedia Journalist for a major networking station focusing in either politics, entertainment news, or sports.  He currently works as an ENG Videographer and Editor at WTVG-13 ABC.

Fayth Atkins

Fayth is a senior majoring in Communication with a focus in Broadcasting, and is a very active member on campus. She currently holds the position of President of the Beta Lambda Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and is a member of the empowering women groups 4AW and BSU. Fayth is currently a radio personality for the WXUT show “Full Effect Radio” and an intern at WTOL. She hopes to earn an internship at Viacom and eventually becoming an influential member in the media industry.


Angelique Baird

Angelique is a junior majoring in Communication with a focus in Broadcasting. She is an active member of the Phi Alpha Chapter of Delta Delta Delta and a new member of the Beta Theta Chapter of Zeta Phi Eta, a National Professional Fraternity in the Communication Arts and Sciences. She is also a member of UT’s Habitat for Humanity. After college, she hopes to pursue a career in entertainment news.


Zeinab Cheaib

Zeinab is a junior pursuing a degree in Communication with a focus in Broadcasting and a minor in Arabic. She is 22 years old and born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. Her career goal is to become a reporter for a local news station here at home!


Cody Connally

Cody is a junior majoring in Communication with a focus in Broadcasting. He is also a part of Full Effect Radio on WXUT. In his free time he pursues his passion of making music and pushing himself as an artist by traveling and performing at shows.


Tatiana Cunningham

Tatiana is a sophomore majoring in Communication with a concentration in Broadcasting and a minor in English. When she is not on campus she is traveling and singing with U-TGC, the university’s gospel choir. She has been a volunteer mentor for the young children and teenagers of Lighthouse Church Center of Hope for five years now and continues to enjoy every moment she shares with them. She is also planning to join the YMCA of Toledo’s Youth Opportunities Program as an English tutor for disadvantaged teens. Upon graduating from the university, she hopes to work in the broadcast industry as a reporter and eventually fulfill her dream of producing her own talk show. Even though this is her first time with UT:10, she is eager to learn and experience all that course has to offer.


David Duffey

David is a junior majoring in Communication with a focus in Broadcasting. He is twenty years old and was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He loves movies, sports, and music, and plans on taking Broadcasting to a whole new level.


Katie Kerekes

Katie is a senior studying Communication with a focus in Broadcasting. She has had experience both behind and in front of the camera during her summer internship down south in Lafayette, Louisiana. She plans to graduate and pursue a career in news, preferably somewhere with warm weather. She enjoys performing of any kind, and has sang the National Anthem for the University Men’s and Women’s Basketball Seasons, as well as the Toledo Walleye and Mud Hens for the last four consecutive seasons.


Andrew Kurtz

Andrew is a senior Communication major with a focus in Journalism. He is the President of Campus Activities and Programming and is also involved with several other organizations.


Devan Lutz

Devan is a junior majoring in Communication with a focus on Broadcasting. She is a transfer student who moved to Toledo from Los Angeles, California, and this is her first year at The University of Toledo. When she isn’t in front of or behind the camera, Devan is pursuing her passion for history and vintage items, particularly the 1940s and WWII history. She owns her own vintage shoppe and sells mid-century, vintage items on Etsy.com. She wants to work in entertainment news as a television host, and ultimately hopes to fulfill her dream of having her own talk show.


Lydia Sims

Lydia is a senior double major in Communication and Theatre with a focus in Broadcasting and Performance/Acting. She has participated in many theatre productions and plays put on by the Theatre Department at UT, both as an Actress and a Stage Manager. She has also worked alongside Buckeye CableSystem and HART Inc. in commercials. When she is not in front of the camera, she is volunteering – her favorite places being the Boys and Girls Club, where she helps kids with homework and after-school crafts, and the Alzheimer Association, performing skits with the patients to regain their fondest memories and health.
Lydia is also a member of Zeta Phi Eta, a National Professional Fraternity in the Communication Arts and Sciences. This is her first time as a Reporter for UT:10 News, but she hopes this opportunity will open more doors. After graduation, she plans to continue her passion in Broadcasting and in Theatre.


Mark Wuwert

Mark is a senior majoring in Communication with a focus in Journalism. From Toledo, Ohio, he is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America and has spent five years in the University of Toledo Rocket Marching Band Drum Line. When he graduates, he hopes to become a sports journalist and wants to cover either the Toledo Rockets, Philadelphia Eagles, or the Detroit Red Wings.
